Serendipity and RSS

By chance, 2 posts close to each other in my feedreader, from different people, on different subjects, but related. RSS is the new serendipity in the digital world.

The first from Dr John Halamka ,  about how he tries to kill complexity in Health IT . The second, from Professor Barry Smith , on his specialist topic - the undue complexity of HL7 , one of the foundational standards of Health IT. The report he points to contains the following quote:

A question following from the description of the status of e-health standards is why the situation is as unsatisfactory as it is. Why are there so many conflicting e-health standards? Why are e-health standard specifications so complex? Why are there not more well-developed and commonly used e-health standards?
