Eating a lot, but still skinny?

Are you still bothered with your sister, friend, neighbor who eats a lot but stays slim and never gain a pound? Here's something that you must read

Our body shapes and sizes vary because we have different metabolic rates or metabolism. The determinants of the metabolic rates are sex, the amount of exercise that we do everyday, age and the amount of muscle compared to fat. These are the main reason why our body shapes differs from one another. So don’t think that if one is so skinny, he probably is choosy when eating. There are times that our metabolism are affected by the hormonal factors or genetics. So no longer wonder if you know someone who eat like there’s no tomorrow, and stays very thin.

Males and Females have different metabolic rates, Women have lower metabolic rates than those of the men, and testosterone is the reason behind it. We learned from school that the responsible for the “manly matters” among their aspect when it comes to physiological is none other than testosterone. This includes the muscle growth. We also know that Women has lesser muscles than men, this is the reason why men has lower metabolic rates. Women have progesterone and estrogen as sex hormones.

When it comes to age, The children, infants and teenagers have higher metabolic rates, because children, infants and teenagers are the age groups that have active growth hormones. Now, these human active growth hormones are not given to matured adults this may lead to some problems. These are only given to children who are suffering from abnormal growing rate.

Pregnant women have higher metabolic rates and especially those breastfeeding, I so agree with this as I’m a living proof of how fast my metabolic rates nowadays. And to maintain these higher-than-normal metabolic rates, an exercise daily is such a great help.

Do you think that exercising in the evening better than other times of the day?

Doesn’t matter, There is no studies that prove that time does affect the effects of exercise in our body. The best idea is to exercise at your own convenient time. Try to do this three times a week and you will definitely see results. So don’t worry or don’t bother if your sister never gain a pound even if she eats like there’s no tomorrow. Metabolism differs.

Stuttering: Most children outgrow it.

For kids who outgrow stuttering, the normal stage of speech development is know as pseudostuttering. Characterized by brief repetitions of sounds, syllables or short words, It's a common speech irregularity that comes and goes. However it is most noticeable when the child is excited, stressed or overly tired.

I can still remember my 2nd grade classmate, she used to stutter at that time but when we were already 4rth grade, i noticed that she no longer stutters. Children who stutter regularly are more likely to notice it and will tend to be more anxious and embarrassed about it.

Here are some tips that would help you and your kids.

1. Talk to your child. Read books together. Encourage conversations during family meals.

2. Do not require your child to speak correctly at all times. Allow talking to be fun and enjoyable.

3. Avoid having your child speak or read aloud when he is uncomfortable, or when you notice the stuttering increases. Encourage instead activities that do not require a lot of talking.

4. Avoid corrections or criticisms such a "slow down" or take a deep breath. They only make your child feel more self-conscious. You should also ask others not to correct him.

5. Do not tell your child to start over or to think before speaking.

6. Minimize the stress or situations that will make the stuttering worse.

7. Maintain natural eye contact with your child. Try not to look away or show signs of being upset.

8. Let your child speak for himself and allow him to finish his sentences.

9. Speak slowly and clearly. Modeling a slow rate will help your child's fluency.

If pseudostuttering persists for more than two months. or is making the child anxious, then he may benefit from speech evaluation and therapy.. Kids with true stuterring should consult a speech .pathologist.

Baby's precious moments: The importance of pointing.

I just want to let everyone know that my 11-month old baby is starting to point on things, He is like telling me "what's that mom?!" He is just so cute, And I've read that i should be happy that my son keep on pointing on different things. Here are something I've learned and wanted to share to all happy mothers like me.

Right around now, your child is becoming quite a pointer. Few items seen during your daily routines escape his little thrusted finger, and as your baby points, he likely says, "What'sat?" Now you might think doing this is just his way of learning the names of various things: clock, car, sock, plate, pencil, vase, pillow, and so many, many more.

This pointing skill, however, is about far more than just learning words. It involves bringing you into your child's realm of learning. If you watch younger babies closely, they are either solely engaged with you or with objects. They'll bat at an object overhead and then later coo back and forth with you. But now as he turns one-year old, your child can point at an object and interact with his Most Important Person—you!—by asking, "What'sat?"

What the Research Shows

Brain scientists call this phenomenon the cognitive triangle; the points of the triangle include you, your baby, and an object. Researchers discovered this pointing ability by doing nothing more than observing and videotaping children at about 12-months old.

For example, a child sees a fly on the window: She folds her thumb around her pinky, ring, and middle fingers while extending her index finger toward the fly, and then looks at her parent. Even when the child does not explicitly ask for information, you can see the question written all over her face. The parent just knows to say, "That's a fly."

Traveling must-haves for a healthy you.

I love traveling, and having kids with you is really fun but a pain as well. Especially, if I'm not ready here are some of the lists that would keep you cool and stressed free.

1. Loose fitting clothes- figure huggers are bound to make you feel warm by mid tour. I used to wear really fit ones when i was a bit younger. You can still look fashionable in loose cotton tee, A wide belt in your waist will make you look very trendy, also avoid dark colors as this absorbs heat more than light hues.

2. Comfy shoes- If you are not an actress/popular/VIP then leave your stilettos at home. This shoes have absolutely no place in an activity that require you to walk for hours. Even flip flops can put a strain on your feet when worn for a long time, so stick to your most comfortable pair of sneakers. I love my flip flops but if I know that i'm going to walk for a long time, I make sure that I wear my sneakers.

3. Sun protection tools- My kids just love to run and walk even if we just stopped for a gas or for food. These is one thing i must not forget especially for them. Sure, SPF do the trick but it wouldn't hurt if you also brought along a hat and a pair of shades to protect you and your family from the sun,and my kids just love wearing their cool shades.

4. Bottled water - no need to lug a huge water jugs around, unless your traveling with kids. but do make sure you have small bottle of water in your bag. water keeps you hydareted, replacing fluids you lose when you sweat.

5. Facial spray - Not really a must but definitely good to have on hand. If the store-bought ones are simply too heavy on the pocket, you can improvise by putting clean water in an atomizer.
