Good general practice

An old survey admittedly, undertaken by a GP (Stephen Taylor) in the early 1950s. But some of the roots of British general practice go very deep. Here for example, in a section on 'paying the doctor':
In the course of the survey the independence of mind and spirit of the GPs visited has been most impressive. Although the great bulk of their income comes from the state, their overwhelming concern has been with their patients rather than the employing authority...this combination of sturdy independence with true spirit of service appears to be due in no small measure to payment on a capitation basis.

Reflection - on the shaping of information systems around the underlying structure of general practice.
