The average person consumes 3000 calories on Thanksgiving! And I know you people are eating more than one serving size of this stuff. My advice- this is one day so eat a big serving of turkey and fill up on the healthy protein first (non fried of course) then have little servings of the rest. HAVE a small piece of pie! Pass on the leftover to take home. One day of stuffing you face isn't going to make a huge difference, its the leftovers that add on the extra lbs because you keep grazing on them the rest of the week.
Also if you get in a good workout before your body will naturally burn all these calories up instead of sitting around the rest of the day doing nothing, then your body will store it as adipose tissue (that lovely fat around your stomach, hips and thighs!).
Don't stuff your stomach completely full! Everyone knows about the post-turkey meal nap. Turkey contains a protein called Tryptophan that your body converts to serotonin promoting sleep. But the stuffing your face part doesn't help this. If your extremely full your body is going to suck all your energy up to digest that big meal so you will feel sluggish and tired. (aka rest and digest). Give it about two hours and your body will start storing your food and you will feel a lot better.
Happy Thanksgiving and enjoy the day with your friends and family!
