Hey Everyone!
So I haven't gotten around to talking about how the 24 day challenge went! I posted a while ago saying I was starting it and I finished but right after I went on spring break and then with school starting up again I have been super busy.
So I did it.. And I got the results I wanted and more. To start with I lost about 10lbs- This may not sound like a lot to you but I was not trying to lose any weight and if I did I only wanted to lose like 3 lbs because I like my body the way it is (and my boyfriend has voiced many times that he doesn't want a tooth pick as a girlfriend).
My measurements:
Waist- Started at 27- Ended at 25.5
Hips- Started at 38.5- Ended at 36.5
Weight-started at 142lbs- Ended at 132
I am 5.9 so if I calculate my Ideal body weight I should weight 145- So I was under my ideal body weight already. I was very happy with my body beforehand as I already said but who doesn't want to look more toned right? I was most happy with my legs and butt. Those are my problem areas and I wanted them to look more lean and now they do.

The Cleanse- This part lasts 10 days. I am pretty against most cleanses because you don't eat anything and drinking cranberry juice is not my cup of tea. Those are very unhealthy ways to lose weight. But this was wayyyy different. In the cleanse you have a fiber drink most mornings with probiotic's to help with your natural GI bacteria (that's why they tell you to eat yogurt for the probiotic's) and at night you take a herbal cleanse pill. You get to eat. Your diet is focused around fruit, vegetables, lean protein and Omega-3's (healthy fats). If you haven't read my latest blogs, omegas help to increase lean body mass and decrease fat. That what your diet should look like anyways. I was never once hungry and like most people associate with a cleanse I wasn't running to the bathroom either.

The main thing with the cleanse is nothing is processed that you eat. No coffee, pop, juice or milk. Instead you drink a SPARKS which is a natural way to give the body energy. It has a very little amount of caffeine and it has a ton on B-Vitamins for energy and a slow release carbohydrate that keeps you going and fueled. I fell in love with the SPARKS. I have one ready in my book bag at all times so that when 3pm rolls around and I want to take a nap I drink one and BOOM I am good to go. Its definitely not something that is going to make you really jittery or anything like a red bull would. Also it doesn't have any sugar.
Max MNS Phase- This phase is 14 days long. This part of the phase you take vitamins, probiotic and omega-3. It comes in packets to make it simple to give you energy and control your appetite. During this phase you also take meal replacement shakes. I tried vanilla and chocolate and liked both. I mean chocolate is chocolate right? You can never go wrong but man I loved the vanilla. Vanilla is def hit or miss when it comes to whey protein but it was my favorite. You had the option of drinking this in the morning or having a breakfast of eggs and oatmeal. Again, the diet was very well rounded and during this part you got to add in a little more carbohydrates and healthy fats. More nuts, nut butter, brown rice cakes, whole grain wraps, and hummus. You also get cheat days- Like hello I looked forward to this.

I didn't have to change what I already ate too much other than not drinking coffee which was my main thing. But I am glad that I did cut coffee out. The biggest thing that this challenge made me realize was that I was doing thing that were so second nature to me. I was adding in extra calories each day that I didn't need unintentionally. I normally wake up and drink coffee every morning before class. I only have one so I never looked at it as a problem. So I thought I was drinking coffee for the caffeine but man was I WRONG. I was drinking the coffee for the taste- and by taste I don't mean the coffee I mean the creamer! I would put a little creamer in my coffee every morning and I never realized how many extra calories I was adding, not to mentioned that it was all sugar and fat. No wonder why I liked it. I calculated how many extra calories I was adding and in a years time I would have added 8 pounds just by drink creamer in my coffee. Crap! That is just one serving size- I know I am pouring more that 2tbsp of creamer in my coffee too because I have measured it before. Also that doesn't add in my occasional stop at Starbucks... Opps
Another thing I realized was that I was literally addicted to sugar. I am a sweets person -this mean that you could put a bowl of chips and dip or popcorn in front of me and I wouldn't touch it. Plate of cookies- I will demolish them. I eat really healthy but I do get a sweet tooth like anyone else. So on the cleanse about day 5 I seriously felt like an addict seeking out chocolate. My roommate Laura was upstairs and they were having a movie night and she had a big bag of MnM's. I went to reach for one and I stopped- like oh crap I can't eat that. Now I was pissed- I seriously went in my room and pouted for like an hour because I wanted one so bad. I don't know about you but I think that's a problem. Oh and this gets better- Nate (my boyfriend) came for the weekend and I think he might like cookies more than me. We always make chocolate chip cookies together its our thing. Well he was like I want chocolate chip cookies... So I made him cookies Friday and Sunday night. The first night was hard when I pulled them out of the oven and they smelt sooooo good I wanted to eat one so bad or just try a little bit of the dough. But I didn't and after that it was easy for me because I kicked my craving. I overcame that and it helped me realize that I don't need that stuff.
I am really glad that I did everything because I am more aware of my body and what I am putting in it now. I still have my cheat meal but after that I am done and don't need to sit and stuff my face till I feel sick. I am super happy with my result and I am actually excited to do another cleanse when school is over- Its spring quarter and I want to have fun my senior year. I would recommend this to anyone after experiencing it and getting the results I wanted.
