CrossFit Workout

What is CrossFit?? CrossFit is an exercise program that combines various exercises involving gymnastics, resistance, metabolic cardio conditioning, lifting and other athlete inspired moves. This high intensity exercise program has sparked interest of many and has become pretty popular in the last year or so.

Where are these workouts done? Well they are traditionally done in a "Box"- a random space that is not a gym pretty much. It started in warehouses and old office spaces that they turn into a CrossFit Boxes. These are popping up all over the place and it is possible to gear the workout so that you can do it anywhere.

So I tried this thing called CrossFit over the summer with my friend Rachel. The gym she works at was shooting a video so she asked me to come and participate. I loved it! They gave me a piece of paper, warmed me up and set me loose. I was competing against myself to complete the reps and exercises within an hour but the team atmosphere that CrossFit brings out really makes you work harder. Everyone there was at a different exercise level so everyone has the ability to complete all the exercises but at a different pace. This is great because someone that is advance or someone that is a beginner can all work together. You cheer each other on and no one judges you but instead respect's you for giving it your all.

I encourage everyone to give this work out a try.. unless you don't like to sweat then you might look for something different in your exercises.

Every CrossFit studio has a WOD (workout of the day) and you can go to the CrossFit website (CrossFit.com) to get their WOD for a killer workout if you want to try this out. The exercises are not put together in any type of particular order but randomly selected by the instructor. Also the workouts can last from 20min to and hour.

I am personally not doing this program right now because of my competition prep. Since I am doing a more structured program to define certain areas of my body I am doing my workouts on my own. I will definitely get back into this when I am done because I think it is awesome and a great workout to change your routine up a little. I would love to compete in the CrossFit games too!
