'A large body of evidence continues to support past research
about the anti-cancer effects of exercise and link between
physical activity and cancer prevention.
"We now believe physical activity is a
primary component of preventing cancer," said Abby
Bloch from the American Cancer Society's advisory
committee on nutrition and physical activity.

The anti-cancer effects of exercise are
due to increases in a protein that blocks cell growth
and induces cell death, according to Australian

Exercise Is Key To Brain Health, Says Study

Exercise Brain Health

'Regular physical activity -- even walking -- may be key to maintaining a sharp mind as we get older, two new studies suggest.

While that's not a new discovery, the studies plug critical gaps in the scientific literature and corroborate previous reports linking exercise to reduced rates of mental impairment in older adults.

The message is now clearer than ever: "If you stay physically active, you're buying protection for your brain," says Eric B. Larson, M.D., the vice president for research at Group Health Cooperative, a nonprofit health-care system based in Seattle.'

The Key to Fitness is Advancing to the Next Level

http://projectgreenlightstudios.com/images/exercise%20running%202.gif 'On the surface, it would be dangerous — even foolhardy — to go on an intense exercise rampage to challenge your heart, lung, vascular and metabolic capacities.  http://www.co.cowlitz.wa.us/health/images/graphics/people_walking.jpg

 by Dr. Eliaz

'New research shows that regular walking can reduce the risk of breast, bowel and other cancers significantly. It has long been known that regular exercise can improve risk factors for many serious health conditions including cancer, diabetes, heart disease, obesity, and more. Now researchers are saying you don't have to be an athlete -- that regular, moderate exercise can provide just as many health benefits by improving oxygenation, circulation, immune response and helping to flush out toxins.'

You sitting down? Experts say it’ll kill you

'Here's a new warning from health experts: Sitting is deadly.

Scientists are increasingly warning that sitting for prolonged periods — even if you also exercise regularly — could be bad for your health. And it doesn't matter where the sitting takes place — at the office, at school, in the car or before a computer or TV — just the overall number of hours it occurs.

Research is preliminary, but several studies suggest people who spend most of their days sitting are more likely to be fat, have a heart attack or even die.'
