National Hispanic civil rights organization votes to oppose water fluoridation
'In an action with far-reaching national ramifications, the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), the oldest Hispanic civil rights organization in the United States, has adopted a resolution opposing the practice of water fluoridation.'
'The resolution was passed on July 1st at the 2011 LULAC national convention in Cincinnati.

Top Ten Arguments Against Water Fluoridation
1.'Fluoridation is a violation of the individual's right to informed consent to medication.
2.Fluoride is not an essential nutrient. No biological process in animals or humans has been shown to depend on it. On the contrary, it is known that fluoride can interfere with many important biological processes and vital cellular constituents, such as enzymes and G-proteins. This makes fluoride potentially toxic even at low doses.
3.Children in fluoridated countries are greatly over-exposed to fluoride. When fluoridation began in 1940s, 10% of children were expected to develop dental fluorosis (damage to the enamel involving discoloration and/or mottling) in its very mild form. 'For the past nine years, the Fluoride Action Network -- along with the Environmental Working Group and Beyond Pesticides -- have persisted in challenging EPA's decision to allow DOW AgroSciences to fumigate hundreds of food commodities in the United States with sulfuryl fluoride. On Monday, January 11, EPA announced that they have granted all our Objections to the use of sulfuryl fluoride on the grounds that children are being overexposed to fluoride. EPA therefore is withdrawing ALL previously allowed tolerances for sulfuryl fluoride on ALL foodstuffs. This is the first time in EPA's history that they have granted an Objection to a pesticide..'

Canadian City Says No To Fluoride
Editor's note: 'There is hope, and an increasing number of cities are catching on to the dangers of water fluoridation as evidenced in Waterloo.'
'It won by the thinnest of margins, but the majority of voters in the Canadian city of Waterloo have decided to turn off the tap on water fluoridation for the first time since the practice started in 1967.
It took until the final two polls for the No side to eke out a victory with 50.3 per cent of the vote. When all the fluoridated areas in Elmira and Kitchener were added to the tally the No side won by 195 votes out of 30,727 total votes cast on the plebiscite question.'

Fluoridation Issue Escalates Into Rage in California Town
'The editorial in the Watsonville Register-Pajaronian offered local voters some blunt advice: "Shield your eyes," it said, "because the City Council is preparing to spit in your face."
That was this month, as the council inched toward finally fluoridating the city's water -- a state-mandated action that has been bitterly debated since city residents narrowly voted to block it in 2002. At a council meeting in January, an anti-fluoridation activist held up a sign alluding to Nazis. When speakers threatened to boycott local businesses if fluoridation goes through, a council member told them to jump off the parking-garage roof.'
