Marijuana Cannabinoids Found to Help Combat Autism

'The cannabinoid compounds naturally found in many varieties of cannabis, also known more commonly as marijuana, may help children with autism spectrum disorders experience dramatic behavioral improvements, and potentially even full recovery from their symptoms. These are the findings of a new study published in the journal Nature Communications that help reinforce the growing body of evidence which shows that medicinal cannabinoids hold incredible potential in both treating and potentially curing chronic illness.'

Fighting Cancer: Another Study Reveals the Cannabis and Cancer Link

'Does marijuana cause cancer? Revealing the link between cannabis and cancer yet again, researchers with the California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco have released findings that further bolster cannabis as an anti-cancer solution. The researchers have found a compound in the much-talked-about plant could “halt the spread” of many types of aggressive cancers, including breast cancer.'

Top Three Myths of the Medical Marijuana Patient

'For the most part, one of the biggest victories for the legalization movement has been the public shift in mindset from cannabis being a horribly addictive substance used by pushers to hook kids into a life of crime and debauchery (thank you, Reefer Madness: The Musical), into a more constructive mindset where the majority of the public have realized that it has medicinal benefits and isn't as bad as other drugs in recreational use.

One of the major causes for this shift has been the rise of more publicly available MMJ resources. As public awareness of dispensaries and authorization clinics has risen, so has public knowledge about qualifying conditions and acceptance of the medicinal use of cannabis.'

Marijuana Compound Found Superior To Drugs For Alzheimer's

Marijuana May Be Far Superior To Drugs For Alzheimer's

Could the active ingredient in marijuana, responsible for its characteristic "high," help turn the tide against the accelerating Alzheimer's epidemic?

'A remarkable study published in the journal Molecular Pharmacology in 2006, found that this long vilified plant contains a compound with not one, but two therapeutic properties ideal for addressing both the surface symptom (memory problems) and root cause (brain plaque) of Alzheimer's disease.[i] This is an ironic finding, considering that the prevailing stereotype is that using marijuana "fries" the brain, leading to debilitating memory issues.'

HOW TO MAKE CANNABUTTER~Medical Marijuana Butter RECIPE~Ease Your Chronic Pain!

EDITOR'S Note:

WATER = AT LEAST 3 PARTS (more if you want a cleaner tasting finished product)

WEED = '1oz bud makes 1lb finished cannabutter (OR) 2oz sweetleaf (OR) 4 oz water or fan leaves

BUTTER= 1-1/4 lbs goes in the stock pot, per ounce (or cup) of bud (OR 2 oz sweetleaf OR 4 oz water or fan leaves) but you will lose some of it to the plant matter (about a stick-aka 1/4 lb) in the end. You should freeze your finished product, properly packaged it stays perfectly fresh in the freezer for up to 6 months. After that, however, it may start to lose some of the important oils to freezer-burn, so beware :)

IF NOT FROZEN: It most certainly can go rancid (even in the fridge) and may start to lose its potency in as little as 3-4 weeks.'

Weed Wars: Medical Marijuana Hits Reality TV

'"Most of our patients and our staff were really skeptical about doing a reality TV show because they were watching Jersey Shore and The Kardashians," says Andrew DeAngelo, general manager of Oakland, California's Harborside Health Center, the largest medical marijuana dispensary in the world.

Andrew and his brother, Harborside's Executive Director Steve DeAngleo, are co-stars of Weed Wars, a new show by the Discovery Channel that looks into lives of those who run Harborside, the patients that seek out their services, and the politicians looking to shut them down. "There are a lot of stigmas about medical cannabis patients, that we don't work hard, that we're a bunch of stoners, that we are lazy, that we are really criminals or drug traffickers," explains Andrew DeAngleo. "All that is a lie that has been perpetrated by the feds and the media."

By opening up their work and lives to cameras, the DeAngelo brothers hope to present a side of the medical marijuana debate that is rarely seen on American television. "This is our chance - and our patients and our staff's chance - to shine."

Reason.tv sat down with the DeAngleo brothers to discuss the show, the multi-agency crackdown on medical marijuana dispensaries and how the Obama Administration's recent reversal of policy is creating an opening for Republicans this election cycle.' Produced and edited by Meredith Bragg.

DEA Hits More CA Medical Marijuana Dispensaries

'DEA agents conducted raids on two more California medical marijuana dispensaries Monday, according to local press reports. Monday's targets were the Medizen dispensary on Northgate Boulevard in Sacramento and the Central Valley Caregiver's Co-operative in nearby Stockton. The raids are only the latest evidence of the Obama administration's ramped war on medical marijuana distribution in the Golden State.

They come less than two weeks after the state's four US Attorneys announced they were aggressively going after not only dispensaries, but landlords and property owners. They also come less than a week after a DEA raid on Northstone Organic, a fully state- and county-law compliant medical marijuana grow and co-op in Mendocino County.'

No Wonder It's Criminalized: Marijuana Makes Tumors Shrink and Halts Their Growth

http://cdn.theweedblog.com/wp-content/uploads//Medical-Marijuana2.jpg
'Ever wonder why a plant made from nature for all of us to enjoy is criminalized? Look no further than the wheels that turn government -- namely greed and corporate profits on behalf of big pharma. After all, why else would something natural be banned? In this case, because it helps prevent cancer. Researchers in Spain have discovered that a marijuana makes brain tumors shrink by halting the growth of blood vessels that supply the tumors with life.

Since when are herbs classified as drugs? We really should pose this question to
wikipedia who classifies the herb a drug under its lisiting.'

U.S. decrees that marijuana has no accepted medical use

http://www.freemedicalmarijuana.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/free-medical-marijuana.jpg
Editor's note: There has been much more international positive research on medical cannabis used as edibles and oils or smoked that this article doesn't mention. It has demonstrated safe curative power for a wide variety of diseases. So whom does this decree serve? Follow the money.

Marijuana has been approved by California, many other states and the nation's capital to treat a range of illnesses, but in a decision announced Friday the federal government ruled that it has no accepted medical use and should remain classified as a highly dangerous drug like heroin.

The decision comes almost nine years after
medical marijuana supporters asked the government to reclassify cannabis to take into account a growing body of worldwide research that shows its effectiveness in treating certain diseases, such as glaucoma and multiple sclerosis.

Marijuana Cuts Lung Cancer Tumor Growth in Half, Harvard Study Shows

'The active ingredient in marijuana cuts tumor growth in common lung cancer in half and significantly reduces the ability of the cancer to spread, say researchers at Harvard University who tested the chemical in both lab and mouse studies. They say this is the first set of experiments to show that the compound, Delta-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), inhibits EGF-induced growth and migration in epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) expressing non-small cell lung cancer cell lines. Lung cancers that over-express EGFR are usually highly aggressive and resistant to chemotherapy.'

The Illegal Herb that Fights Cancer

 http://themagicdragon.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/aurora-medical-marijuana.jpg

by Dr. Mercola

'Are You Being Kept in the Dark About a Potential Cancer Cure?

'If you ask Canadian Rick Simpson, absolutely. Simpson is the man in the video above who was openly growing hemp in his backyard and using it to produce hemp oil, which he gave, for free, to his friends and family. The oil, Simpson and many others claim, has a remarkable healing effect on countless diseases and conditions, including cancer.'

After numerous raids by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Simpson was forced to seek asylum in another country, but his Web site, Phoenix Tears, still stands. There you can find instructions on how to produce hemp oil, as well as testimonials from people who say the oil has helped them. Mail Online also featured a story of 2-year-old Cash Hyde who was diagnosed with a serious brain tumor. His father secretly administered cannabis oil through his son's feeding tube while he was in the hospital in failing health and the boy experienced a complete turnaround. He has now been declared cancer free.'

As Simpson states:

' "I have been providing people with instructions on how to make Hemp Oil medicines for about 8 years. The results have been nothing short of amazing. Throughout man's history hemp has always been known as the most medicinal plant in the world. Even with this knowledge hemp has always been used as a political and religious football. The current restrictions against hemp were put in place and maintained, not because hemp is evil or harmful, but for big money to make more big money, while we suffer and die needlessly. Look at a proposal such as this; if we were allowed to grow hemp in our back yards and cure our own illnesses, what do you think the reaction of the pharmaceutical industry would be to such a plan? Many large pharmaceutical companies that still exist today sold hemp based medicines in the 1800's and early 1900's. They knew then what I have recently found out. Hemp oil if produced properly is a cure-all that the pharmaceutical industry can't patent." '

Vermont Considers Medical Marijuana Dispensaries

 http://www.umsl.edu/~keelr/leaf.gif

MONTPELIER — 'Here’s what Shayne Lynn envisions somewhere in Chittenden County: an office as non-descript as a doctor’s office or a pharmacy from which he would sell marijuana to those with qualifying medical conditions.

There’d be a waiting room. Clients would be seen by appointment only. There’d be security. He might also offer clients yoga, acupuncture and Reiki. He’d probably grow the marijuana somewhere else, at an indoor facility.

Lynn could become one of the first people to run such an operation in Vermont if proposed legislation the Senate is expected to consider this week passes.

Lynn, a 40-year-old professional photographer who lives in Burlington, said he believes in marijuana’s medicinal value for those who suffer from chronic pain and he thinks it’s wrong that such people have nowhere legal to buy the relief.'

Medical marijuana industry rapidly grows mainstream

'The medical marijuana industry is beginning to show its age.
After humble California beginnings in 1996, 15 states and the District of Columbia now have legalized marijuana use for ill patients who have a doctor's recommendation.

Medical marijuana has been found to help with chronic pain, nausea and other symptoms of diseases including cancer, muscular dystrophy and AIDS. Nearly 25 million Americans are medically eligible to buy marijuana.

Sales are expected to hit $1.7 billion this year. Just last week, a San Francisco-based outfit, the ArcView Group, formed the industry's first investment network to link cannabis entrepreneurs to qualified investors with "seed" money.'

Who Benefits From the Phoney 'War on Drugs'?

New Film Exposes Government Drug Dealing

'In the follow-up to his ground-breaking documentary ‘American Drug War,’ filmmaker Kevin Booth traces the fight against Federal drug regulation in the State of California. A public majority has spoken and said yes to states rights, allowing for the use of medicinal marijuana and opening up a new front in controversial medicinal ‘dispensaries.’

While users herald the freedom of legally-licensed “weed,” powerful forces at the DEA and law enforcement haven’t given up their federal enforcement power yet. Many dispensaries have been raided, targeting their distribution of marijuana and challenging their authority to rise into legitimate business.'

Medical Marijuana Patients Speak Out

FDA approves bird poison for MS patients

From: www.hsibaltimore.com

'Clearly, the FDA has it out for people with MS.'

'Bird brains that they are, they just approved Ampyra, a drug to supposedly help patients with multiple sclerosis walk faster. But here's the catch... the drug (a form of fampridine) is also a commonly used bird poison.

'It's nasty enough to induce seizure-like symptoms in birds to scare them away from crops. So this next fact should come as no surprise: Ampyra can cause seizures in HUMANS.

'On top of that, the other so-far known common side effects of the drug include relapse of MS symptoms, insomnia, dizziness, headache, weakness, balance disorder, back pain, and burning, tingling or itching of skin... all of which sound very bad for someone already struggling with MS.

'Keep in mind, these are the common side effects found among the 540 patients from the clinical trials. Just 540 people. Imagine what kind of damage it can do with 54,000 patients. Don't be one of them.'

Unlocking a Cure for Cancer – With Pot

'Who could imagine that cannabis might one day offer hope as a cure for cancer? The United States government, that’s who.

'For the past 30 years, U.S. officials have willfully ignored clinical research indicating that marijuana can inhibit the growth of certain type of malignant tumors. However, the recent publication of a trio of clinical studies and a pair of scientific reviews have effectively blown the lid off "Cancergate," and revealed that pot’s medical value may be far greater than ever presumed.'

THE EMERGING EVIDENCE

'Last year, five scientific journals published prominent articles trumpeting cannabinoids (compounds in marijuana) as potential anti-cancer agents.'
