Uniforms...

My bad work news from last week?

Instead of wearing my usual scrubs to work (I work in a hospital), I will soon be wearing khaki pants and a standard color polo. It takes me back 10 years ago to being a supervisor in the Six Flags waterpark while I was in college.

shorts in the waterpark, pants working in rides!
So now, I get to feel like an hourly employee, and jepordize my clothes getting nasty stuff on them. I drowned my sorrows last friday night when I got home.

barefoot bubby... yummmm

I'm thinking of fun ways to jazz it up.

Headbands are at the top of my list, along with....

Feather hair extensions. Thank you groupalicious!

I'm sad at losing my individuality with my look. I'm sad to wear the same outfit I wore when I made $10/hour at an amusement park. I'm sad that the polo shirts don't fit great. Overall, I'm cranky about it, but I'm trying to think positively (as much as I can).

Do you wear a uniform?
How would you add some flair to khakis and a blue polo?

Recharged & Ready to Go!

Today, I feel recharged.

After working all week & weekend, and all last week & the kinesio course last weekend, I needed a break. Thank god, that was today.

I baked & cooked up a storm.

Dark Chocolate Cherry Oatmeal Cookies & Malibu Pina Colada Cupcakes for the bakesale at work tomorrow. Quinoa cups for lunch & future breakfast/snack, Black Bean Quinoa & Citrus salad for work this week, and getting my Clean Eating Mexican Shepherd's Pie ready for dinner.

I ran a mile in my Vibrams, my first run ever in them!

I got a pedicure & went tanning.

I watered the newly fertilized lawn (thanks hunny!)

I caught up on blog reading & DVR shows.

Overall I had a relaxing, much needed day to catch up. The last couple weeks have been busy and stressfull. Last week was a slight challenge in my no sugar challenge, but overall it's going well. I definitely feel like clean eating/no sugar is a type of lifestyle I want to strive to maintain ~90% of the time. While my eating has been better, my workouts are lacking, which is a main reason in my lack of posting. When I don't workout, I feel like I shouldn't be posting!

Now that I feel newly re-energized, I'm ready to regain focus!
Clean Eating, No Sugar
Get workouts in, no excuses!

What helps you re-energize?
Does your job make you crazy sometimes?

Tired Weekend

Source: Uploaded by user via Renee on Pinterest

After a weekend of working both saturday and sunday, I'm exhausted. Throw the time change on top of that & I'm ready for bed. When I get stuck working the weekend, it throws me all out of whack. I don't get workouts in, I eat like junk, and I'm super cranky. Thank goodness I have tomorrow off from work!

The one thing I am happy out?

'
Look at this weather!!
High 60s, low 70s.... I'm in heaven!
This means I'm planning a run tomorrow before a swim lesson, then a day of shopping (clothes, blender). I cannot wait to get out there in the gorgeous sunshine and fresh air. It's just what I need after 7 days straight of working.

My one accomplishment today?

Kale chips!
I've been wanting to try making these forever, and finally took the plunge. I ripped up Kale leaves, then tossed them in a bowl with olive oil, salt & parmesan cheese. Baked on a cookie sheet in the oven at 300 for 25 minutes. I was a little skeptical, but they got thumbs up from the roomie, Kevin & Me.

Time to relax with a lifetime movie and prepare for a fresh start tomorrow.

Don't forget my LARABAR giveaway HERE.

The Act of Change

source: google images
I stand up for myself.
I give out my ideas or opinions.
I make it a point to tell others that complaining doesn't change things, actions do.

Unfortunately, when it came to my work, I wasn't taking my own advice. Yesterday that changed. I stood up for myself. I am working to make things change for myself and my coworkers. Its scary, and nerve-racking. But I'm happy that we're finally making the change we need to.

In my endurance sport world, this means that I need to make some changes. Time passing by will not make me lose weight, or be a better swimmer. I need to take action to make those things happen. I need to get in the pool, jump on the bike, watch my food intake.

What are some things you need to take action to change?

My change for this weekend?
Trainer ride this morning
Work on my 70.3 training plan
A trip to Lululemon to shop away frustrations (and get some gorgeous new gear)
 Run tomorrow
Meeting at Bia Fitness with a nutritionist
Swimming tomorrow with a friend

Whats your weekend look like?

(Not) Working for the weekends!

Yesterday I got word from my boss that he was able to accommodate my weekend racing schedule.

wicked awesome.

Working at a hospital means weekends are required for me, and with 2 therapists leaving, and only 3 of us left, I was nervous. I decided on a whim to give him a list of my weekends I have plans for (one wedding, a few sox games, spectating my brother's first marathon, and a bunch of races for myself), and to my surprise, he was able to do it!

i wish!

Maybe its because I am being super flexible with my vacation week this summer. I am letting everyone else pick first, then picking from what is left. Maybe its because I told him I wouldn't work my per diem job so I could work when I'm free there (now that my pay rate is the same I really don't care where I work). This year we didn't have any solid vacation plans, but my weekends were most important to me. So I'm happy I got what I wanted.

So you know what that means??

I took out that race calender and started some planning. I registered for Susan G Komen 5K at Bushnell Park in CT that I run every year (although I'm disappointed that they are now charging $4 extra to get a D-tag & have your race timed). I reserved a hotel for Rock N Roll Providence (did I ever mention running that one?) at the Marriott downtown. The race I really am itching to sign up for is my first triathlon of the year, but I need my estimated finish time for the swim since that determines the order we start in. I want a little more practice before committing to that (skipping my swim workouts does not help).

My eating has been great, completely on plan with WW, but I have been so exhausted my workouts have been lacking. I was completely unable to get out of bed for a swim this morning, and could barely drag myself to work. I tried eating a little more protein today to maybe pep me up, hopefully it will work, if I keep it up. I got a fabulous shipment on my doorstep to help me with that, which means an awesome giveaway in the works for you!

Another early night to bed? I have a run I need to aim for in the morning!
